Format

Embrace is a flexible curriculum that is offered in three formats:
  • Couple-to-Couple mentoring
In this format, you will be matched with a trained Mentor couple who will accompany you through the course. Usually couples meet in the Mentors’ home once a week for six weeks. The meeting times can be flexibly managed to accommodate both you and your Mentors' availability.

The couple to couple mentoring format allows mentors and the engaged to give added attention to areas of interest and is ideal for engaged couples who want to explore their relationship in depth.

For couples who live in remote areas, a correspondence arrangement is also possible. Once the couple handouts are posted to you, your mentor couple will connect with you by phone or skype and provide instructions and a password for accessing the teaching DVD's online. Correspondence format is only available to couples in remote areas or where fiances are living in different cities.

A minimum of 3 months notice is required for this format.

  • Small home-based group
In this format, small groups of 2 to 5 engaged couples meet over a two month period in the home of the Mentor couple. When possible, session 4 is offered individually allowing engaged couples the freedom to explore the topic more fully with their Mentor couple. This format is of particular benefit for couples who enjoy interacting with other engaged couples.
  • Group Intensives
Offered as a combination of self-directed online sessions and group sessions,  the group intensive format may have up to 40 couples depending on the venue (usually a parish or school facility). This format allows engaged couples to attend anonymously as the busy schedule allows little opportunity for social conversation with other couples. Usually, a team of married couples host and present the course.
The course is comprised of 4 parts:
    • Part 1: Self-directed Online Session.
Bookings close one week prior to the group session so that couples have time to receive their handouts by mail and complete Part 1, a self-directed online session (approx 2 hours).
    • Part 2: Group Sessions: 6-7 hours in 1 day in parish facilities.
The Group sessions (Part 2) are offered on one day in an intensive format. Meals and refreshments are provided.
    • Part 3: Self-directed Online Session.
Couples will recieve the materials at the group session and instructions on how to complete the Part 3 online session.
    • Part 4: Customised Mentor Session
A final session is offered as a customised Mentor session at a time convenient to both Mentor and engaged couple. This session allows engaged couples to explore any of the content covered in the course and discuss any issues confidentially. A certificate of completion is issued by the Mentor couple. Engaged couples should allow a minimum of 3 weeks to complete parts 3 and 4.
